Charcoal / Carbon Vapor Air Filters The Activated Charcoal / Carbon Vapor Air Filter. Charcoal / carbon air filters can be made in a variety of ways: cellulose chambers with charcoal pellets enclosed in them, polyester with charcoal dust impregnated in it, pleated charcoal / carbon filters, charcoal / carbon trays which are metal frames with perforated or expanded metal screen sides completely filled with charcoal pellets, perforated aluminum lamanate with charcoal pellets glued to one side, and carbonweb® which is carbon filled polyester filter media.Good Filter Company has all these different kinds of charcoal / carbon filters. Our preference, however, for charcoal / carbon air filtration is the carbonweb® filter. The carbonweb® activated charcoal / carbon air filter combines all the good properties of the other types of charcoal / carbon air filters and it is more easily and quickly manufactured into custom size filters. Carbonweb® activated charcoal / carbon air filters are made by imbedding different size charcoal / carbon pieces in a polyester filter media.Since activated charcoal / carbon uses surface area to adsorb gases, vapors and chemicals, the smaller the charcoal / carbon particle, within certain limits, the higher the percentage of its mass is surface area and therefore the more effective it is at adsorbing gases, vapors and chemicals. Carbonweb® can also have other ingredients added, such as alumina, potassium permanganate and zeolite for specialized control of certain gases, vapors and chemicals that are more difficult for general activated charcoal / carbon to adsorb efficiently. We prefer Carbonweb® activated charcoal / carbon air filters for the following reasons: No partial bypass of untreated air like cellulose chamber charcoal / carbon filters. Less air restriction than completely filled charcoal / carbon trays. More activated charcoal / carbon than polyester impregnated with charcoal dust. All sides of the charcoal pieces in carbonweb® are exposed to the incoming air instead of one side being blocked with glue like perforated lamanate charcoal / carbon filters. GOOD FILTER COMPANY carbonweb® activated charcoal / carbon air filters are are made with aluminum frames and expanded aluminum face grids, except pleated carbonweb® filters which may or may not be in beaverage board moisture resistant frames. GOOD FILTER COMPANY carbonweb® activated charcoal / carbon air filters can be used for many different applications including range hood filters, after filters in self contained air cleaners, heating and air conditioning systems for odor and VOC control, nail and beauty salons for odor and chemical control, odor-gas-chemical control in homes such as radon gas, pet odors, tobacco and cooking odors and many other applications where controlling gases, vapors and chemicals is required or desired. Although we prefer the carbonweb® activated charcoal / carbon air filters generally, GOOD FILTER COMPANY also has the other types of activated charcoal / carbon filters-cellulose chamber, trays, impregnated and perforated-for applications where those type charcoal / carbon filters are requested or best suit the application.
